LAMBERT FACILITY UPGRADES

Director Dolliole Emphasizes Importance of Customer Service

Lambert-St. Louis International Airport will spend nearly $450 thousand on its most recent facility upgrades which include the enhancement and improvement of windows and the installation of new carpet.  These efforts, expected to commence in early summer, are part of ongoing capital improvement projects.

“I have discussed with our staff my goal to make customer service our top priority, said Lambert Director Kevin C. Dolliole, who assumed his new position on May 1.  “Enhancing the physical facility is obviously an effective means of providing the traveling public with the best possible experience at Lambert.”

On the ticket counter level of the Main Terminal, a new solar film consisting of thin plastic panels will be applied to the exterior of all the windows, resulting in both aesthetic and functional benefits.  This treatment will provide a uniform window tint throughout the terminal, reduce glare, and minimize summer heat and air conditioning costs.

In the East Terminal, new windows will replace those which have been damaged or have sustained thermal seal failures, which can result in condensation or a foggy appearance accumulating between the panes.  With a total cost of $324 thousand, all the window improvements are scheduled for completion in October.

New carpet will be installed in the public areas of the A and B concourses and the B-C connector at a cost of $125,300.  Work will be performed at night to avoid inconveniencing passengers and should be completed in September.  Last year new carpet was installed on the C and D concourses.

Ben Hur Construction Company is the general contractor for both the window and carpet projects.  Twenty percent minority business services on the window project are being performed by ICA Construction and the environmentalists.  Krys Tile and Flooring is providing twenty-two percent of the service for the carpet project.
